DETROIT, MI – U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and former Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve, today released a video to honor Memorial Day.
“Today is a day to remember and honor our fallen servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the things we hold dear – our freedoms, our democracy, and our American way of life,” said Senator Peters. “Our fallen men and women served our country with distinction, and we owe them a debt of gratitude.”

“As we gather today with friends and family to spend time together, it’s important that we also take a moment to reflect on the significance of what Memorial Day represents.
“Today is a day to remember and honor our fallen servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the things we hold dear – our freedoms, our democracy, and our American way of life. Our fallen men and women served our country with distinction, and we owe them a debt of gratitude.
“Memorial Day is also a time to recognize our Gold Star families who bear the burden of loss and carry with them the legacy of their loved ones. To the families of our fallen servicemembers in Michigan and all across the country, we stand with you and support you – today, and every day.
“So, on this Memorial Day, I encourage all Michiganders to take time to pay tribute to the generations of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines – who answered the call of duty and served our nation with bravery.
“God bless all of those who have served. God bless all of those currently serving. And God bless the United States of America.”
