PHOTOS: Peters Tours Our Next Energy Inc. & Highlights How the Inflation Reduction Act Strengthens Domestic Supply Chains for Electric Vehicles

NOVI, MI – U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI), and CEO & Founder of Our Next Energy, Inc. (ONE) Mujeeb Ijaz, today highlighted how the Inflation Reduction Act strengthens domestic supply chains for electric vehicles and batteries. Peters visited ONE’s Novi, Michigan headquarters, toured their state-of-the-art battery lab and discussed how the Inflation Reduction Act, which Peters helped pass into law, provides manufacturing incentives to encourage the onshoring of supply chains and accelerate domestic manufacturing of batteries – including those for electric vehicles. The Inflation Reduction Act creates a new production tax credit, the Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit, for domestic manufacturing of components along the supply chain for battery cells and modules.

This credit will support Michigan manufacturing and jobs, like the more than 2,000 jobs that will be created at the ONE Circle Battery Cell Factory in Van Buren Township, all while lowering costs for consumers and strengthening our national security. The legislation also makes landmark investments to tackle climate change, create jobs, incentivize domestic manufacturing and bolster supply chains, while fighting inflation and reducing the deficit.

“I was proud to help pass the Inflation Reduction Act into law to strengthen our supply chains and accelerate the domestic manufacturing of batteries – including those for electric vehicles, which are the future of the auto industry,” said Senator Peters. “Companies like ONE are a prime example of how federal investments like this create economic opportunity and jobs in Michigan, improve our energy security and accelerate the development of clean energy technologies to help confront the climate crisis – while also boosting our economic competitiveness on the global stage.”

“ONE has a goal to be the leader in sustainable battery manufacturing in support of American energy independence,” said Mujeeb Ijaz, CEO & Founder of Our Next Energy, Inc. “Legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act, which we applaud Senator Peters for working to pass into law, is helping us meet this goal by accelerating demand for U.S. made batteries, creating jobs and fostering in a new era of American manufacturing.”

ONE is a Michigan-based energy storage technology company focused on engineering batteries that accelerate electrification. The focus of ONE is to double the range of electric vehicles; use safer, more sustainable raw materials; and establish a localized supply chain.
