Peters Rides 833 Miles, 26 Counties, 12 Stops in 5 Days
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI) recently traveled 833 miles through 26 Michigan counties on his #RideMI Motorcycle Tour. Peters, an avid motorcycle rider, stopped in twelve counties over the course of the five-day tour, where he discussed his work to help grow Michigan’s small businesses, bolster our manufacturing sector and expand critical infrastructure. Peters is a member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee and the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee.
“There’s nothing better than seeing Michigan’s gorgeous scenery by motorcycle, and this tour was a wonderful opportunity to travel from Michigan’s beautiful lakeshores to our fertile farmlands,” said Senator Peters. “In the Senate, I want to ensure that I am representing every county in our state, and this tour allowed me to hear directly from constituents and talk with them about how we can support Michigan small businesses and grow our economy in every community.”
Peters, a former Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve and strong advocate for Michigan’s military installations, also met with local veterans and stopped at Camp Grayling and Wolverine Worldwide, which makes footwear for the U.S. military.
“As a former Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve, I’m focused on strengthening Michigan’s critical military installations and supporting the brave men and women in uniform, who put their lives on the line to protect our country,” Peters added. “It was an honor to meet with Michigan servicemembers and veterans to discuss how we can continue to grow Michigan’s role as a hub for the defense industry and provide the right care and assistance to help our veterans transition to civilian life.”
