Peters Statement on Agreement to Release Hostages from Gaza

DETROIT, MI – U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI) released the following statement on the agreement reached to release 50 hostages held by Hamas and allow humanitarian aid to reach innocent civilians:

“This agreement to release 50 women and children who have been held hostage by Hamas since their brutal attack on October 7th is welcome news. I appreciate the Biden Administration’s efforts to work with our international partners to broker this agreement, which will also allow additional humanitarian aid to reach innocent families in Gaza who have been dragged into this crisis by Hamas’s actions.

“As the parties work to see this deal through, the United States and our international partners must continue working to secure the safe release of all the remaining hostages and protect innocent civilians. Finally, Israel must have the steadfast support of the United States – including additional aid – as it works to eliminate Hamas, end their deadly campaign and prevent this conflict from expanding.”
