WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senators Gary Peters (MI) and Debbie Stabenow (MI) today announced that the Department of Transportation (DOT) will be awarding $10 million to the Willow Run Airport. This Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant is supplemented by funding Peters and Stabenow helped enact through a government funding bill. The funding will go towards infrastructure improvements, including construction on a runway.
“Safe and reliable air travel is critical to keeping communities across southeast Michigan connected to important markets and destinations, not only during this pandemic but in the years ahead,” said Senator Peters, a member of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. “I’m pleased to announce this federal grant, which will help improve Willow Run’s airport infrastructure.”
“Investing in Willow Run will support economic development in the region,” said Senator Stabenow. “This funding will ensure that Michigan’s businesses can transport their products efficiently and help encourage businesses to invest in the region and create jobs.”
