WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow today announced $434,783 for the Michigan Bureau of Fire Services Fire Fighter Training Academy. This grant comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.
"We rely on our firefighters to protect our communities every day, and we must provide them with the right training so they can do their jobs safely and effectively,” said Senator Peters. "I'm pleased to announce this award that will help the Michigan Bureau of Fire Services train more brave men and women to help safeguard our homes and families, and promote safety in our communities for years to come."
“Firefighters across Michigan put their lives on the line to protect our families and homes,” said Senator Stabenow. “Thanks to these new resources, more brave men and women will have the training they need to help them do their jobs more safely and effectively.”
Eligible fire departments and Emergency Medical Services organizations in Michigan and across the country can apply for Assistance to Firefighters Grants. These competitive grants help first responders purchase the equipment and obtain the training needed to handle fire-related hazards.
