DETROIT, MI – U.S. Senators Gary Peters (MI) and Debbie Stabenow (MI) today announced that the Oakland County International Airport will receive a $725,176 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). The funding was awarded through the Michigan State Block Grant Program, and will help the airport replace an aircraft rescue and fire fighting vehicle to ensure it continues to meet critical safety requirements.
“Michigan airports play a critical role in keeping communities and businesses connected to important markets and destinations by providing safe, reliable air travel,” said Senator Peters. “I’m pleased to welcome this grant for Oakland County International Airport, which will help ensure the airport can continue transporting travelers safely and efficiently.”
“Having reliable and safe air service is crucial for tourism, commerce, and economic development,” said Senator Stabenow. “This grant is an important investment in the safety of travelers at Oakland County International Airport.”
