DETROIT, MI – U.S. Senators Gary Peters (MI) and Debbie Stabenow (MI) today announced that the City of New Baltimore will receive a $107,614 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for a new educational fire safety trailer that includes interactive training activities. This funding comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Fire Prevention & Safety Grant Awards in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
“It’s critical that fire departments have the resources they need to keep our communities safe,” said Senator Peters. “This funding will help educate families and students about fire safety procedures.”
“Our firefighters put their lives on the line to protect our families, homes, and communities,” said Senator Stabenow. “These new resources will help save lives and educate residents about how to prevent fires and respond to emergencies.”
“This new trailer will help people in New Baltimore and the surrounding communities learn about fire safety, and we thank Senators Peters and Stabenow for their efforts to secure this funding to help educate our residents about how to react in these emergency situations,” said New Baltimore Mayor Tom Semaan.
