WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and former Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve, today announced that fifteen Michigan students nominated by his office have received appointments to one of the nation’s Service Academies.
Of the group, five will attend the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; five will attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; four will attend U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York, and one will attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. The students will begin their service this summer.
“I was pleased to nominate these impressive students for appointment to our nation’s service academies and thank them for their willingness to serve their country,” said Senator Peters. “These talented young men and women have worked hard to develop academic and personal skills that – not only led to their appointments – but will also lead to future success.”
