Ahead of First Anniversary of the Supreme Court Overturning of Roe v. Wade, Peters Vows to Continue Fighting for Women’s Right to Essential Health Care

DETROIT, MI –  U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI) released the following statement in advance of the first anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, which overturned Roe v. Wade and ended nearly fifty years of federal Constitutional protections for women seeking abortions. The anniversary of the ruling is tomorrow – Saturday, June 24th, 2023.

“While Michiganders voted to enshrine a woman’s right to an abortion in our state’s constitution, the threat to essential health care for women is as strong as ever. Republicans across the country are working to pass legislation to make abortion illegal everywhere, and I’ll keep fighting to protect every American woman’s right to make her own health care decisions with her doctor without interference from politicians and judges.”
