Senator Peters’ Cybersecurity Bills Advancing

Two bills to help protect public and private networks from growing cybersecurity threats have advanced in the Senate. US Senator Gary Peters of Michigan sponsored the bills.

“I am focused on dealing with ransomware attacks right now, which continue to plague small businesses and large businesses alike,” says Peters. “We’re all aware of the Colonial Pipeline attack, then the meat packing plant, and over the Fourth of July, a number of small businesses were attacked. So this will create the opportunity for us to get a better sense of what is happening with ransomware.”

Peters says these bills help protect schools and supply chains in Michigan and nationwide from hackers who seek to exploit the weakest links to steal information and hold institutions hostage.
